Why Teach Critical Thinking?
Today's curricula assume that our children will consume information, process it, and apply it as directed. However, there is very little that teaches our children just HOW to process that information. Students who are taught HOW to learn rather than being drilled and filled with seemingly disconnected facts and figures are perfectly capable of piecing together information to deduce the correct answers.
Our children need to be equipped to challenge what they hear and see, to analyze evidence, and to do their own detective work, thereby making their own decisions and thinking for themselves.
